The concept: Embracing authenticity

In Akrotiri, the part of the island where manor houses once lined the shore, Amaranthus offers a modern, pared-back version of a Zakynthian summer house. Built for up to six guests in three ensuite bedrooms, it opens towards the Ionian with large windows, a wide heated pool, and outdoor spaces that encourage you to live mostly outside. The architecture nods gently to the island’s past, but the experience is firmly in the present: long mornings, late swims, and unhurried days.

Outdoors

The heated infinity pool runs almost the full width of the terrace, mirroring the sky and the Ionian below. Jacuzzi jets at one end invite lingering, whether that is the first thing in the morning or after dinner. Sun loungers and umbrellas are placed for both full sun and shade, and the covered lounge and dining area make it natural to stay out from breakfast to late evening. A small garden softens the lines of the stone, and the gated setting keeps everything feeling contained and calm.

Indoors

Indoors, the villa has the flow of a modern home. The living area opens directly to the pool terrace, so conversations and children’s games drift in and out without interruption. A dining table for six sits beside the fully equipped kitchen, which is set up for daily cooking as much as for simple snacks. Two king bedrooms with sea views and jetted bathtubs feel like private suites, while the twin ensuite bedroom offers flexibility for children, teenagers, or friends travelling together.

Guests at Amaranthus benefit from daily breakfast and access to shared wellness and gym facilities, so the line between villa and resort stays pleasantly blurred. Tsilivi Beach, with its family-friendly set-up and many options for food and drink, is a short drive away, while a bit further, Zakynthos Town offers a more local backdrop for an evening walk or dinner. For longer days out, Laganas Beach adds a different side of the island when you want a stronger dose of Zakynthos energy.
