Our Story

BlueVillas – The Luxury Concept was founded by Christos Gkekas in 2011, and we are a Greek hospitality company specializing in luxury villa management and personalized on-site operation. Our award-winning services and high expertise have made us one of the major Greek agencies in the luxury travel industry and a valued member of the Serandipians and J. MAK Hospitality networks, as well as a partner with Marriott Homes & Villas.

Our story began with just 15 villas, and today, after over 10 years of successful operation, we count more than 550+ carefully selected luxury properties on 20+ destinations including the Greek islands of Mykonos, Santorini, Paros, Antiparos, and Crete, as well as other Greek island and mainland destinations. BlueVillas’ stunning villa collection and high-end services have drawn the attention of the international luxury scene, and from 2016 to 2022 we are proud to have been awarded 6 times by the World Luxury Hotel Awards as Global Winner of the Best Luxury Serviced Villas and twice as Regional Winner.

Our hard work and faith in our values have set the industry standard for luxury travel and lifestyle management in Greece. We are very selective when it comes to our properties, and we created our Signature Portfolio; a collection of the most luxurious villas with services and facilities equal to those of a 5* hotel. Carefully chosen to meet and even exceed our strict criteria, these properties offer the highest level of comfort and amenities to satisfy all our guests.

To follow our passion and work towards our vision BlueVillas is dedicated to continuously improving our service. All our teams work closely together, and we love to share ideas and think up new ways of doing things. We run a training course for the team, and for other members of our hospitality community; we like to disseminate gained knowledge and experience. All BlueVillas staff are enrolled in our Continuous Improvement Project, which includes internal and external training, courses, and workshops. We all know that we are a ‘work-in-progress’, and our vision, passion, and drive make us want to keep growing and improving as a company.

Christos Gkekas

CEO & Founder

Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Christos Gkekas holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. However, from an early age, Christos dedicated his summers to working in the family hotel in Northern Greece. After some years of gaining valuable experience in 5-star luxury hotels on Mykonos and later as a sales executive in luxury travel agencies, Christos came up with the idea of BlueVillas. Knowing he had to put his knowledge and expertise to full use, in 2011 BlueVillas was born! Initially, the company started with only 12 villas in Santorini. The next year saw 8 more added in Santorini and 10 in Mykonos. Although BlueVillas first started offering only accommodation, soon Christos’ passion and drive for excellence led him to understand that bespoke and personal service is vitally important in the luxury hospitality industry. Thus, the development of a dedicated, well-trained, and on-site BlueVillas concierge team on each island was successfully established. Christos has seen the company undergo many changes as it grows, but his dedication and professionalism in the luxury travel industry remains a constant, his bright out-going personality and his authenticity, means BlueVillas is firmly on the map and going places!

Eugenia Pereira

Born in Venezuela, Eugenia Pereira Bastidas is a well-travelled professional with extensive experience in the tourism industry. Eugenia started working in travel when she was only 19 and has since grown to be the accomplished executive she is today. She speaks 4 languages – English, Spanish, French, and Greek – and holds a master’s degree from Edinburgh Business School, UK. Drawn to all that is good in life, she understands luxury and experiential travel, and cross-cultural relationships. Finally, settling on Athens as her base, BlueVillas were excited to employ her in the position of Partnerships Director | Villa Consultant. With her aura of sophistication and vibrant energy, Eugenia takes care of our most important clients. Customer-oriented with extensive knowledge of the luxury tourism market, as well as her experience as a travel agent are invaluable to her establishment of productive long-term relationships with our partners. Her out-going personality and her inimitable flair and style, naturally draw people to her, and when asked why she enjoys her job she said; ‘I love to see clients happy and enjoying life as much as I do.’

Christina Dedes

Reservations & Villa Manager

Born in the U.S.A. and later growing up in the beautiful town of Nafplio, Greece, Christina Dedes holds a truly international identity. Fully bi-lingual in Greek and English, as a teenager she worked as a receptionist at her family’s hotel. After completing her university studies, she followed her passion for helping those in need in her role as a licenced social worker for nearly a decade. On her return to the hospitality industry, BlueVillas was delighted to add her to the team; with her extensive hospitality industry experience and her generous, friendly nature she is now one of the most respected and long-standing members of the team. This multitasker is an accomplished villa consultant, and in the summer season she is a chief coordinator on Mykonos. Her organizational skills and ability to motivate her team are impressive to say the least! When asked what she loves most about working for BlueVillas, she answered, “Meeting new people and hearing their stories is fascinating. Having just a few minutes to gain their trust over the phone or having to ask the right questions through an email is a challenge I always accept. It’s worth it to see their expression when they walk into the villa that I helped them pick out: smiles all around!”

Dimitris Karageorgos

Athens, the hometown of Dimitris Karageorgos, who growing up in such a culturally rich environment was naturally fascinated by tourism. As a student, he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Aegean University and already showed himself to be a bright star in the tourism industry with his note-worthy thesis. Continuing his studies, he received a Master of Science in Tourism Planning, Management, and Policy. His working career began in tourism as a back-office agent in B2B operations and later as a sales manager for a number of properties in Greece and Turkey, one of them being a member of the S.L.H. As a sales manager within a big international award-winning management company, he actively managed and took part in the decision-making for a number of properties throughout Greece and abroad, providing him with invaluable experience. Intrigued by the innovative concept of BlueVillas, the care and attention shown to the guests and the focus on detail, he joined the team confident that he would put his knowledge and experience to good use, and he certainly has, all the team and BlueVillas’ guests and agents agree on this!

Amanda Adorni

Concierge Operations & Business Development

Amanda Adorni comes from an English and Italian background; with a degree in English Literature, a master’s degree in Linguistics and she is fully bi-lingual in English and Italian. She has lived all over the world in places like New York, Mexico, London, Rome, and now Greece. Growing up working in her father’s restaurant, hospitality comes second nature to her. She is based full-time on Santorini & Paros and is an expert on all the islands have to offer, as well as being accomplished in writing and content development. BlueVillas hired her in the summer of 2016 as the concierge for Santorini, and with such a background, she soon became a valuable member of the team. Describing her experience as a BlueVillas concierge during the summer, she said, ‘It is a pleasure to share what I know about Santorini & Paros with BlueVillas guests so they can really discover the islands. It is nice they have a feeling of security while they are here, and I like playing a part in helping people have a holiday that will stay in their hearts forever.’

Born and raised in Athens, Marina Papoulia has loved storytelling since childhood. Her passion for traveling began to flourish through literature and foreign languages and led her to study Translation and Interpreting. After completing her studies, her first job was with a prominent Greek travel agency, where she discovered her inclination for the travel industry as well as for copywriting and digital marketing, leading her to complete a master’s degree in these subjects. Her creativity and experience make her a valued member of the BlueVillas Content Team, where she focuses on strengthening the company’s brand and reaching people through her innovative and creative content. ‘I like people to read my text and imagine themselves there where I am describing, I truly believe words can paint a thousand pictures!’

Ermioni Georgiadou, from Athens, Greece has a bachelor’s degree in Management, Economics, and Communication of Cultural and Tourism Units. She started her career working part-time in luxury hotels around Greece, guided by her passion for communication and travel. Fascinated by the ground-breaking concept of BlueVillas she joined the team as an intern while she completed her case study on the company for her degree thesis. As the BlueVillas intern she had the chance to work with all the teams and learn about what it takes to make a vacation truly memorable. She is known by all for her endless enthusiasm and strong work ethic, her moto is ‘every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.’

Coming from a Greek and German background, Alexandros was raised in Athens and had been guided by his passion for art and design his whole life. He has a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and speaks 3 languages: Greek, English, and Japanese. He worked as a store manager in the entertainment gaming industry for 5 years, where he acquired graphic design expertise and valuable experience in customer service. Fascinated by the world of luxury travel, the team was happy to welcome Alexandros on board and he is now a valued member of the BlueVillas team.
