The Concept: Secluded Romance

Princess is a luxury Santorini villa on the slopes of the highest point of the island, under the Monastery of Profitis Ilias in Pyrgos. One of four exclusive units, set in the private grounds of an extensive terraced estate, it sits on the lower level and hosts two in one bedroom. Welcoming guests aged 14 and over, this is a retreat of peace and tranquility, of local plants and trees, with stylish modern living blended with nature, and the quieter side of Santorini.

Outdoors

The terrace features an infinity outdoor heated pool with a sunken lounge area, so nothing disturbs the views. There is a hammock for siestas, beanbag loungers, and a wooden table with dining chairs for alfresco eating under the sunshade, with curtains for extra privacy. The view is wide and ever-changing — and if the weather is right, you may even catch the outline of Crete on the horizon.

Indoors

Indoors, Princess keeps a calm Cycladic palette of white and pale wood, with contemporary finishes. The open-plan space combines a small kitchen and sitting area, while an archway leads through to the king-size bedroom, complete with anatomic mattress and pillow menu. In the bathroom, a spacious walk-in rain shower and double basins are paired with luxury bath products, robes, and slippers — small details that make the space feel considered.

Good to know

Profitis Ilias Monastery sits at Santorini’s highest point (567 metres), above Pyrgos and just uphill from the estate. It’s worth visiting for its gardens and chapel, as well as the small gift shop selling local craft products that support the cloistered monks who still live there today. From here, the island opens out in every direction, with far-reaching views across Santorini and the sea beyond.
