The concept: Family Paradise in Nature
On a quiet peninsula on Samos’ northwest coast, Mare Retreat brings three independent villas together as one base for up to 20 guests. It’s private and gated, with space to spread out and a relaxed, outdoorsy rhythm. Ten bedrooms are arranged across the trio of homes, so families and friends can share time without losing privacy. Communal areas encourage long meals and board-game evenings, while separate sitting rooms and terraces let early risers or afternoon nappers keep their own pace without disturbing the group.
Outdoors
Shaded paths and mature trees keep the grounds cool through the day, so children can play in the shade while adults enjoy privacy and breeze. When it’s time to swim, choose the private pool beside the terrace or wander about 100 m to the estate’s small cove for a dip in the Aegean, then towel off under the sun and settle back into a book. Guests can pick from the garden’s seasonal produce for simple salads and snacks, and the peninsula setting makes hiking or biking across the coastline a simple pleasure.
Indoors
Inside, views alternate between sea, mountains, and gardens. The style is understated Mediterranean with hand-picked antiques, balanced by modern comforts: satellite TV, a sound system, reliable Wi-Fi, and a fully equipped kitchen in each villa for easy breakfasts and unfussy dinners. Stucco walls in warm earthy tones tie the houses to the landscape without competing with it, and the layout keeps circulation simple—slide a door, step to a terrace, and move between indoors and out with no effort at all.
Good to know
The scenery is captivating, but if you want to explore further, Karlovasi lies about 4 km away — handy for supplies or a casual evening out. One of the island’s standout beaches, Megalo Seitani, is around 2 km from the retreat and reachable on foot or by boat, rewarding walkers with clear water and an unspoiled setting. It’s easy to dip into the island for a few hours and then return to a base where everything is quiet and ready when you are, keeping plans flexible and days pleasantly unhurried.
