The concept: The Mood of Western Crete
Western Crete has a different kind of summer mood — broader skies, lush hillsides, slower towns, and beaches that feel slightly wild once you leave the center behind. Villa Hazel belongs fully to that atmosphere. Set above Kissamos and spread across two luxury properties, it welcomes up to twenty-two guests in eleven bedrooms, with sea views, multiple pools, and enough room to let the days stretch out naturally between the estate and the coast.
Outdoors
Outdoors, the villa is made for those long, loosely structured days that become the memory of the trip. The pools give the stay different focal points, from the more open sweep of the infinity edge to the smaller, more playful pause of the plunge pool, while the lawns, terraces, and shaded dining areas let the group spread and gather around. Someone grills by the BBQ, someone disappears with a book, someone lingers by the outdoor fireplace long after sunset. The sound system, outdoor shower, and sea-facing lounge areas also add to that sense of movement.
Indoors
Inside, the two villas offer different moods. One leans more contemporary, with glass, strong lines, and a sense of light moving freely through the house, while the other brings in more stone, warmth, and a slightly more grounded domestic feel. Across both, the shared spaces are generous and practical, with open-plan kitchens, dining areas, and living rooms, while the eleven bedrooms are distributed in a way that gives the group privacy. The indoor heated pool, wine cellar, fireplaces, and entertainment features add depth to the stay.
Good to know
Kissamos is only a short drive away, which gives the villa an easy connection to local shops, tavernas, and the slower rhythm of town life. Mavros Molos is the closest beach for swims, while Falasarna is within comfortable reach for a more expansive beach day, especially if the mood turns toward sunset and a longer afternoon out. Chania is farther, but worth keeping in mind for a day that asks for a different rhythm, more movement, and a little history.
