Reconnect with Nature on Paros

Friday, 13 November 2020

There is a reason Paros was named the Best Island in Europe by the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2020. An island with so much more to offer than just golden beaches and traditional villages. There is something for everyone; secluded bays and beach cafes, traditional Greek taverns, boat cruises around the island, kite surfing and sailing, and nearly 40km of hiking trails.

The hiking trails around the island are varied, experienced walkers can take old mountain paths for longer hikes, and mild walking routes pass through villages and remote quiet parts of the island. If you want to hear more about the island, you can go on a hike with a guide, just ask your BlueVillas Concierge. From the ancient quarries to the monastery up high, you can take a hike and reconnect with nature on wonderful Paros.

The oldest trail on the island is the Byzantine road from Lefkes to Prodromos, paved with Parian marble. It is about 3 km long and passes through scenes of unspoiled beauty. From Parikia there is a great path that runs all the way round from the port along the beach, to the beach of Livadia and then over the cliff tops and down to Krios and Marcello beaches. There are at least 3 lovely places to swim and a great view of town of Parikia from across the water.

If you want to get back to nature and uncover the true beauty of Paros, then you must visit the Environmental Park up on a peninsula at the northern tip The Park of Paros is a unique and accessible nature reserve, there are small paths that are marked and the routes are not strenuous, and the views of the islands of Syros and Tinos and Naxos and Mykonos are unforgettable. Discover on foot small coves and beaches facing clean Aegean waters where you can stop for a swim, and feel the north winds blowing warm salty air to cleanse your spirit.
