The concept: Off-the-Beaten-Path

Just above the Ambracian Gulf, Villa Arethusa offers a wide horizon, generous space, and a layout that’s easy to grow into. Between the sea, the trees, and the sky, it’s part private home, part understated hideaway. Eight bedrooms open onto a long view of the landscape, and there’s room here for sixteen guests—though it rarely feels like that many. Mornings come with quiet light and coffee on the balcony, afternoons drift from pool to shade to book to water, and the feeling is that you have more vacation time than you thought.

Outdoors

The outdoor spaces open wide toward the sea, centered around a large infinity pool with jacuzzi jets and a clear view to the blue horizon. Sun loungers line the pool edges, while shaded dining and lounge areas bring everyone together in the in-between hours. Canoes and paddleboards rest ready to explore the rocky shore, and evenings often end around the barbecue or watching the sunset fold into the hills across the gulf. The mood stays low; the light stays long.

Indoors

Inside, each of the eight bedrooms includes a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, and balcony access—though four of the rooms can be set as twins for added flexibility. The living space is simple and open, with sliding glass doors that lead to the pool. The kitchen is built to cook, not just look good, and the dining table sits close by, perfect for meals that stretch into conversation. The house has two additional restrooms and is designed to stay comfortable, even when full.

Good to know

Arethusa is located just outside the village of Sparto, with the closest beach a couple of miles away. Daily housekeeping is provided, and a local cook is available to prepare a pre-agreed three-course menu during your stay. Aktion Airport and the port of Paleros are both accessible within an hour, and parking is available at the villa. From its design to its pace, Arethusa invites long stays, slow mornings, and the kind of rest you feel when there’s no rush.
